JOHN PRINE LIVE ON SOUNDSTAGE 1980
On March 27, 2007, Shout! Factory and Oh Boy Records will release "John Prine Live On Soundstage 1980", the first archival DVD from the legendary, Grammy® award-winning folk troubadour. The concert, which first aired in 1980 on the celebrated PBS concert show Soundstage, includes early classics such as “Angel From Montgomery” and “Hello In There,” as well as songs from Prine’s signature albums, Bruised Orange and Pink Cadillac. Intercut with the live performances is a sequence of interviews with Prine as he tours his childhood hometown of Maywood, Illinois, returns to the scene of “The Accident” and then to the back porch of his childhood home where he performs acoustic versions of "Paradise" and "How Lucky." What they labored over with great enjoyment should hit our ears by April 2007! The album of classic-country covers, including Lefty Frizzell's "Saginaw, Michigan''; Charlie Feathers' "I Forgot to Remember to Forget''; Ernest Tubbs' "Blue-Eyed Elaine''; Leon Payne's "I Love You Because''; and Al Dexter's "Pistol-Packin' Mama.'' They sing alternatively and together on every song of this duet album which includes the great Stuart Duncan on fiddle, Kenny Malone on drums, Charles Cochran on keyboards and several others. ...Here's a little tidbit to tuck away... John Prine and Mac Wiseman have been hanging out at the Butcher Shop together. John has been a fan of Mac's for a long long time and as they cut and picked at the meaty songs they always loved, they laid down and album full of tracks! Delivery date will hopefully be in early 2007 to warm your hearts and chase away the winter chill!
